The first visit of the IMCA North Star Touring Series arrived at Jackson Speedway for the first time in the 2012 racing season, bringing the A Modifieds to the historic half-mile for the first time this season. A total of 125 cars filled the pits on State Bank of Fairmont Night.
The North Star Touring Series brought a total of 26 of the IMCA Modifieds to Jackson in the campaign that is making a circuit of various tracks in Minnesota this season.
Heat race wins went to Mick Rykhus and Aaron Betz in the Sport Compacts; Matt Hanson, John Briggs and Drew Bargloff in the Hobby Stocks; Matthew Looft, Dan Paplow and Greg Sidles in the Sport Modifieds; Ryan Voss and Derrik Lusk in the 305 Sprints; Jeffrey Larson and Dustin Larson in the Stock Cars and Jason Eckard and Skylar Prochaska in the 360 Sprints. Heat winners in the IMCA Modified class were Brandon Beckendorf of Danube, MN, Eric Dailey of Armstrong, IA, Jay Noteboom of Hinton,, IA and Mike Hanson of Alton, IA.
Feature victories went to Aaron Betz in the Sport Compacts, Cory Probst in the Hobby Stocks, Nick Johanson in the Sport Modifieds and Ryan Voss in the 305 Sprints.
Feature wins also were recorded by Jeffrey Larson in the Stock Cars, Gregg Bakker in the 360 Championship Sprints and Eric Dailey in the North Star IMCA Modifieds.
The season continues on Saturday night, June 23, with the 35th Annual University of Okoboji Night at the Speedway, featuring the Jackson Speedway Touring Series 360 Sprint Cars in attendance. Co-sponsors of the evening’s races will be the FCA Coop of Jackson and Sanford Health-Jackson. Action in all six classes will get underway with hot laps starting at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
