Spirit
Lake ended a six-year
drought against Lakes Conference foe Emmetsburg on Monday with a 3-2 home
softball win. Paige Krause provided the offensive fire-power, smashing a
three-run blast over the centerfield wall in the third, her sixth homer of the
season. Alissa Christoffer helped the cause with two hits and a run scored.
Cara Vale got the win, limiting the ninth-ranked E-Hawks to two runs on two
hits with a pair of strikeouts. Krause entered in the sixth to pick up here
first save. The win ends a ten game losing streak by the Indians against
Emmetsburg. The E-Hawks tallied a run in the fifth off back-to-back hits by
Whitney Kibbie and Hanna Van Oosbree, then got a second run an inning later on
a RBI single from Michaela Rehm. Faith Schmidt suffered the loss despite
striking out seven batters. Emmetsburg, at 5-3 in conference and 16-8 overall,
will try to snap a four-game skid Tuesday at home against Algona. Spirit Lake,
with a 3-6 league mark, hosts Spencer on Tuesday. That game can be heard on

Elsewhere in the Lakes, Spencer scored ten runs in the fifth
inning to pull away from Storm
Lake for a 15-5 victory.
Madi Rost scored four times on three hits and Kari Kramer drove in three with
two base knocks. The Tigers are 6-2 in the league entering tonight’s game at Spirit Lake.
Sixth-ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central had their way with
winless Cherokee, winning in four innings by a 12-0 margin. Kendall Bosch
surrendered two hits and struck out five. The Midgets own a 6-1 conference
record and play a pivotal game at LeMars on Tuesday.
Okoboji made it four wins in five games with a Siouxland
Conference defeat of West Lyon on Monday,
besting the Wildcats 7-4 on the road. Mikkinzie Peschong struck out five
batters en route to the win. Olivia Rohlk notched two of the Pioneers six hits,
while Abby Taylor, Kiley Wermersen, Sydney Boeckholt, and Peschong all drove in
a run. Okoboji completes the season sweep of West Lyon
and improves to 4-3 in league outings. They travel out-of-conference to play at
Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer on Tuesday.
Also in the Siouxland, Sibley-Ocheyedan dropped a lopsided
14-1 game to Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley. MOC-Floyd Valley
earned a five-run win over Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, 9-4.

Park dominated a Cornbelt
Conference softball doubleheader Monday, taking two games at home from CWL.
Game one ended 10-1 in favor of the Lady Wolves, who received a four-hit,
ten-strikeout pitching performance from starter Macy Gunderson. Emily Anderson
drove in a pair of runs on two hits and Noreen Morrow had three RBI with a
double. The nightcap was an 8-1 decision for HLP. Katherin Ihnen drove in a
pair of runs, and Mariah Gath plated another. Gunderson again got the win,
throwing four innings in relief with no hits allowed and four strikeouts. Harris-Lake Park snaps a six-game losing streak with
the victory and improves to 5-3. They host Sibley-Ocheyedan on Tuesday.
