Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn rallied late against Harris-Lake Park on Tuesday, scoring runs in the
final two innings to force extras before plating two in the eighth for a 5-4
non-conference victory. The Wolves scored in the top half of the eighth to take
a 4-3 advantage, however, Brett Flynn tripled in the tying run and eventually
scored the walkoff win on a wild pitch. The senior scored three times and also
pitched the first seven innings with nine strikeouts in a no-decision. Ryan
Flynn got the W throwing in the eighth. HLP received a three-hit night from
Connor Gunderson, scoring once and driving in a run. The Wolves used three
pitchers throughout the game and fall to 7-5 this summer. They host
Estherville-Lincoln Central on Thursday, a game that will air live on Q102. The
Hawks improve to 12-3 and travel to Remsen St. Mary’s for a War Eagle contest
Wednesday.

Spirit
Lake sophomore Ben Speath
led the Indians to their eighth consecutive win Tuesday, topping
Sibley-Ocheyedan, 8-3, on the road. The hurler threw five innings of one-hit,
shutout baseball with six strikeouts for his first win of the year. Casey Jones
got things going early with a solo homer, his first on the season. The game
opened up in the sixth when Spirit
Lake put six runs on the
scoreboard to assume an 8-0 advantage. The Indians are 13-5 and play at
Cherokee on Wednesday.

Emmetsburg dropped a non-conference matchup with Sioux
Central, falling 5-3 at home. The Rebels are winners of four straight and own a
13-4 record, while the E-Hawks drop to 8-10. Emmetsburg is at rival Spencer on
Wednesday for a matchup to be aired on Y100.
