Okoboji Drops League Home Game to Ranked Lions (Softball RoundUp)




Okoboji softball continued conference play with a home game
against 15th-ranked Central Lyon/George-Little Rock. The Pioneers
hung tough, but ultimately succumbed to a 4-1 setback in Milford. Mikkinzie Peschong took the loss.
Sydney Boeckholt drove in a run on 2-for-3 hitting. Okoboji owns a 5-4 mark in the
league and will continue the Okoboji Invitational Tournament on Saturday with
an opening contest against Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire.

Friday marked the opening day of the Spencer Tournament,
which features a deep field of ranked teams. Spirit Lake
opened with a loss to third-ranked Bishop Heelan, 4-1. The Indians also fell
for the second time against top-ranked North Union,
14-7. Estherville-Lincoln Central has found a groove, as the sixth-ranked
Midgets handed two-time champion and top-ranked Akron-Westfield its first
setback of the season, winning 5-1. ELC then beat Sioux Center
by a 10-4 margin. The host Tigers earned a big win, as well, taking down 15th-ranked
Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn, 4-1, however, did fall 3-2 in eight innings to Sioux Center.
