Win Streak Over for Spirit Lake (Baseball RoundUp)

In a battle between the top teams in the Lakes Conference
standings, the LeMars Bulldogs remained undefeated in league play with a
resounding 12-1 road win over Spirit
Lake on Monday. The six-inning loss
snaps a ten-game winning streak by the Indians, a stretch that included six
conference victories. Bulldogs senior Chris Eckstaine dominated the game on the
mound and at the plate. The righty struck out eight batters and held Spirit Lake
to four hits, while also going 4-for-4 at the plate with five RBI and four runs
scored. He hit a three-run homer to left in the third inning, one of two home runs for LeMars.
Ben Spaeth took the loss, allowing five runs on three hits over three innings.
Andrew Ites scored the lone run for the Indians, who fall to 8-3 in the
conference and return to the diamond Wednesday to host Estherville-Lincoln
Central. That game can be heard on KUOO.

Some late offense propelled Spencer to a 6-1 victory at home
over Estherville-Lincoln Central. The Tigers outhit the Midgets 8-5,
highlighted by Austin Allen’s two-run home run to center. ELC got a home run
from Matt Burrell in the second with the bases empty. Spencer sits at 4-5 in
conference and hosts LeMars on Wednesday, while the 4-6 Midgets will head to Spirit Lake.

Emmetsburg got back on the winning track Monday, taking a
13-8 decision at Western Christian. The victory snaps a three-game skid and
puts the E-Hawks at 4-6 in league games. Their Tuesday game at Manson NW Webster set for Tuesday has been cancelled.

With the conference title still up for grabs in the
Cornbelt, Harris-Lake
Park picked a bad time to
get swept in a league doubleheader. Playing at North Union,
the Wolves lost both games by scores of 8-3 and 9-4. The victories give the
Warriors a one-game lead in the conference standings at 9-1. HLP is 4-2 with
four league games remaining. Their non-conference matchup Tuesday with Alta/Aurelia has been cancelled.

In the Siouxland Conference, Okoboji had their hands full in
a 14-4 loss in six innings against Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley on Monday. The
setback drops the Pioneers league record to 3-6, with a makeup game set for
Tuesday in Milford against Sioux Center.

West Lyon avenged an
earlier loss to Sibley-Ocheyedan, handing the Generals an 11-1 setback. Sibley-Ocheyedan
falls to 3-9 in the league. Also, George-Little Rock doubled up Sioux Center,
6-3.
