Pioneers Blank Sioux Center in Conference Victory (Baseball RoundUp)




Okoboji played steady baseball for seven innings Tuesday and
earned a 7-0 shutout of Sioux Center in a Siouxland Conference matchup in Milford. Zach Jones
dominated on the mound, striking out 14 Warriors batters and scattering five
hits for the win. Offensively, the Pioneers scored runs in five of the seven
innings. Keaton Jones was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one driven in. James
Halbur scored three runs on two hits, and Keith Oskvig had two base knocks, two
RBI, and a run scored. Okoboji is 8-11 on the year and 4-6 in league play. Next
on the schedule is a non-conference outing against Manson NW Webster on
Thursday.

Elsewhere, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire continued its
hot play in the second half of the season, topping Newell-Fonda, 5-3, in a non-conference
game. GTRA is 13-6 and has won nine of their last eleven. Next up is one final
Cornbelt Conference doubleheader against rival Harris-Lake Park
on Monday.

And North Union defeated
Humboldt by a 6-4 final, the seventh consecutive win for the Warriors.
