Okoboji Completes Season Sweep of Generals (Softball RoundUp)





Another night of big offense led
Okoboji to a 13-2 Siouxland Conference win over Sibley-Ocheyedan Tuesday night
in Ocheyedan. The Pioneers were paced by Abby Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with
four RBI and three runs scored. Anna Seeger reached base four times for the
Pioneers, scoring three runs and picking up two RBI. Savannah Heithus got the
win. The freshman allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out six
before exiting the game after the fourth inning. Sibley-Ocheyedan had their
chances at the plate, but the Generals stranded the bases loaded in both the
first and third innings. McKenzie Kleve had a hit and a run scored. The
Generals fall to 2-12 in the Siouxland, and celebrate Senior Night Wednesday
against Clay Central-Everly. Okoboji improves to 5-5 in the league and will
host Sioux Center on Thursday.

Harris-Lake Park successfully defended its home turf Tuesday, winning a
close, 3-2 non-conference game over Alta/Aurelia. Grace Winters drove in Noreen
Morrow for the game’s winning run in the sixth. Morrow plated the previous two
runs on two hits. Macy Gunderson struck out seven, and surrendered six hits and
one earned run for the “W”. The victory ends a brief three-game losing streak
and bumps the Lady Wolves overall record to 10-16. HLP continues their season
ending homestand Thursday against Sioux Central.

Spirit Lake
participated in a unique road doubleheader Tuesday in Cherokee, and ended the
night with a win and a loss. The win came in conference play by a 4-0 margin
over the winless Braves. Bailee Newman was the winning pitcher. Amanda Bueltel
had two hits, a run scored, and one driven in. Paige Krause smashed her twelfth
home run of the season, leaving her one shy of the single season school record.
The Indians are an even 6-6 in conference games. Prior to that contest, Spirit Lake
battle Sheldon in a non-conference outing, but took a high-scoring 20-13
setback. Indians pitching allowed thirteen hits and issued twelve walks, while
the defense committed six errors. Alissa Christoffer went 3-for-5 with three
runs scored. Overall, Spirit
Lake sits at an even
17-17. They will host sixth-ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central on Wednesday.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn went to extra innings in War Eagle
play, however, the Hawks were unable to secure the league win, falling 5-4 in
ten innings against Remsen-Union. HMS will host LeMars Gehlen Catholic on
Wednesday.
