Wolves Take Two From CWL (Baseball RoundUp)

Harris-Lake Park solidified two more Cornbelt Conference victories Thursday by sweeping a doubleheader with CWL. The Wolves won the opener in four innings by a 16-1 margin. Ryan Mann allowed just one hit and struck out seven. Eli Ihnen had two extra base hits, and Connor Gunderson drove in four runs on two hits. The game opened up in the second inning when HLP scored eleven runs. The nightcap ended in five innings with Harris-Lake Park taking a 10-0 shutout victory. Gunderson was the winning pitcher, hurling a one-hitter with five strikeouts. Colin Brons went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three stolen bases. HLP took advantage of ten walks. The two wins put the Wolves at 6-2 in the league. They play outside the Conference Friday when Trinity Christian comes to town.

Okoboji scored five runs over the first two innings en route to a 9-2 non-conference win Thursday against Manson NW Webster. The Pioneers tacked on four more in the fifth, and tallied seven hits and eight walks for the game. Okoboji has won three of its last four and will travel to MOC-Floyd Valley for a doubleheader with the Dutch on Friday. The Pioneers are 9-11 overall.

An impressive pitching effort by Spencer’s Weston Glienke helped the Tigers to a 5-3 win and a season split with rival Emmetsburg. The junior allowed the three runs on three hits and recorded eleven strikeouts. At the plate, Jordan Plueger went 3-for-3 in the leadoff spot and drove in three runs. Spencer, winners of three of their last four, improves to 5-6 and plays at home Friday against Western Christian. Emmetsburg, losers of seven of their last nine, drop to 4-8 in the league and continue a five-game homestand with Estherville-Lincoln Central on Friday.

Estherville-Lincoln Central’s late surge against Central Lyon fell short Thursday, as the Midgets lost a 5-4 home game to the Lions. Joe Clayton was 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Tyler Swanson pitched to the loss. ELC is 11-14 ahead of its trip to Emmetsburg on Friday.

Elsewhere, Sibley-Ocheyedan picked up a narrow 7-6 victory over Clay Central-Everly.
