Tied at one through four innings, Spencer came unraveled in
an 11-1 setback in six innings against LeMars in the second round of the Class
4A Regionals. The Lakes Conference co-champion Bulldogs plated five runs each
in the fifth and sixth innings, while the Tigers defense committed seven errors
in those two frames. The rally started with an Emily Pick home run, one of two
hit by LeMars on the night. Spencer concludes the season with a 13-17 record.
LeMars improves to 28-9 and will play in the regional final Tuesday against
ninth-ranked Bishop Heelan, who defeated Sargeant Bluff-Luton, 7-6.
